Karnataka News Today: Traffic Chaos, Assembly Uproar, Corruption Allegations & More

The 10 PM Karnataka Bulletin on KP News brought several important local, state, and political developments from across Karnataka. From severe traffic congestion in Bidar to intense political clashes inside the Karnataka Assembly, here are the top stories of the day.

Traffic Chaos in Bidar’s Old City Area

Residents of Bidar city’s old area are facing daily traffic jams on the road connecting New Kaman to Choubara. The road witnesses heavy congestion due to several critical factors:

  • The presence of hospitals, schools, colleges, and shopping centers along the corridor.
  • Vehicles parked on both sides of the road due to insufficient space.
  • Lack of parking facilities in commercial buildings.

Citizens say that the absence of mandatory parking provisions during building construction has worsened the situation. Locals are demanding strict enforcement of parking rules by the concerned departments.

Girls Lead in Vachana Literature: Shiny Pradeep Gunchi

At the 24th Vachana Utsav, Shiny Pradeep Gunchi said that Vachana literature continues to inspire society and is relevant even today. During her address, she highlighted:

  • Basavanna gave women a top place in society.
  • Children should read Vachana literature to develop wisdom and emotional maturity.
  • Girls should adopt the ideals of Akka Mahadevi for social progress.

A car rally from Guppa to Basavagiri was flagged off under the Basava Pratibha Pratishtan initiative. Bidar’s Akka Pade was praised as a model for the entire state for its efforts in cultural preservation.

BJP Mocks Congress as Ministers Skip Assembly Session

The BJP mocked the Congress government after many ministers were absent during question hour in the Karnataka Assembly. Notably absent were Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, and at least 10 other cabinet ministers.

The ministers were participating in a Congress protest against the replacement of MGNREGA with the BBG scheme. Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda answered questions on behalf of the government. Opposition leader R Ashok urged Speaker UT Khader to read out the names of ministers who were supposed to attend the session.

Karnataka Assembly Uproar Over “Governor Surveillance” Claim

The BJP accused the Congress government of spying on the Governor after Law Minister HK Patil stated that Governor Thawarchand Gehlot receives instructions from New Delhi. The issue caused massive disruption during discussion on the Governor’s address. BJP leaders recalled a 2011 incident involving former Governor HR Bhardwaj to counter Congress claims.

BJP Targets Siddaramaiah Over ₹6000 Crore Excise Scam

Scam Allegations: BJP state president BY Vijayendra alleged a ₹6000 crore excise scam involving Excise Minister Ramappa Timmapur and his family members. The BJP is demanding a CBI probe or judicial inquiry and the immediate resignation of the Excise Minister, accusing the Siddaramaiah government of trying to suppress the issue.

Corruption Allegations Raised by Opposition in Assembly

Opposition leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy claimed corruption within the Excise Department after Lokayukta officials caught a Joint Commissioner. He cited the Karnataka Wine Merchants Association’s claim that ₹6000 crore in bribes were paid and questioned who all were involved, including whether the CM had any role. Congress members rejected these allegations as baseless.

Police Bust Illegal Sand Transport Using Bullock Carts

To evade police, sand mafia operators were allegedly transporting sand using bullock carts instead of trucks. Ballari rural and urban police conducted raids, leading to the following actions:

  • Over 20 bullock carts were seized.
  • Cases have been registered against 20 individuals.

Authorities said bullock carts were used during the early morning and late night to avoid suspicion from regular patrols.

Karnataka Minister Attacks Centre Over Governance

Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar accused the BJP-led central government of pushing the country backward. She alleged the centralisation of governance, the weakening of MGNREGA, and the use of religion for political gains. She stated that the Congress focuses on development and rational thinking, while the BJP is spreading superstition for electoral benefit.

Conclusion

From civic issues in Bidar to major political controversies in Bengaluru, Karnataka witnessed a day filled with significant developments. The Assembly remained tense over corruption charges, governance disputes, and inter-party clashes, while citizens continue to struggle with everyday problems like traffic congestion.
